The TEll// By Thrift & Tell

Welcome to THE TELL//BY THRIFT & TELL: a celebration of fashionable women who dress as smart as they shop.

This week’s guest on THE TELL// is Jordanna Sharp, London born and New York City based stylist. I discovered Jordanna’s account a few months ago and instantly was drawn to her chic, minimalistic aesthetic. What I particularly appreciate about Jordanna’s style is that she wears staple pieces that can be mixed, matched, and reworn over and over again. She like us, is also no stranger to the world of resale, and uses sites like The RealReal to shop for new pieces and sell the items she no longer needs. It is a treat to have Jordanna be part of the series and stay tuned for more interviews to come. Enjoy!

//Your style in 3 words: Classic, Elegant, Timeless

//Staple Outfit: Oversized Blazer, tank top and a good pair of jeans.

//Style Icon(s): RHW

//Your First Big Purchase: I started working at Conde Nast in London once I graduated college, the first time I got paid I could not believe the size of the pay check (it was a lot for a 21 yr. old with no real bills to pay at the time). On my lunch break I walked to Selfridges department store in London and bought myself a Miu Miu black clutch. I loved it so much, wore it every weekend for a long time.

//Do You Still Have It? I don't, but not because I sold it, I left it in a hotel on vacation and never got it back.

//Best Fashion Advice You Ever Received: Dress for yourself.

//Types of clothing you invest in: Classic silhouettes that I know I will want to wear for years; I always invest in pants by The Row for this reason.

//Types of clothing you save on: Sweaters. They all show signs of wear, doesn't matter how much they cost.

//Your Greatest Extravagance:At the end of last year, I bought myself the Cartier Juste Un Clou to treat myself on a very successful first year in business. I cried when I left the store, it just felt like such an overwhelming achievement to have bought something with money earnt from a year of extreme hard work and dedication. Oh, and my Shoe Collection is pretty impressive

//Brands That Will Stand the Test of Time: So many of the classics. Bottega Veneta / Chanel / Saint Laurent.

//Favorite Affordable Brands: Zara really does do it best I think from a trend standpoint, I love their blazers and slip dresses. Others I love - Dissh / &otherstories / COS

//Favorite Designer Brands: The Row / Loewe / Bottega Veneta for shoes and handbags.

//Favorite High-Low Brands to Mix: The Frankie Shop / Sir the Label / Helmut Lang / Khaite / Toteme

//Favorite Places to Shop Consignment: The RealReal

//Favorite Places to Consign Your Own Closet: The RealReal for the convenience.

//Currently Collecting Dust in the Back of your Closet: I really try and practice what I preach, for the last few years I have shopped with real purpose to avoid this very thing happening, I try and rotate my pieces as much as possible, if you follow on IG you will see I wear the same pieces over and over! (to the point, I am surprised no one is bored Haha).

 //Your Closet Tried and Trues: My Helmut Lang black blazer, never worn anything more. I have had it a couple of years and receive compliments every single time I wear! My Manolo Maysules are also always my go to shoes.

//Your Most Prized Possession: Definitely nothing fashion related, my beautiful baby girls.

//Best investment you ever made in your style: Learning to invest in basics instead of trending pieces. To that point all of my pieces by The Row.

//Style Choice From Your Past That Haunts You: If you knew me from the age of 16-21 I was a true bodycon girl. In any form, dresses / skirts anything extremely tight and short I was sold. Some of those dresses will haunt me.

//“It seemed like a good idea at the time” a.k.a Purchase you most regret: Used to spend way too much money on colourful pieces that just never felt like me. I spent $400 on a bright pink Jacquemus cardigan (that was tiny and cropped) that I wore once and immediately hated. (I love the brand but their more neutral pieces now).

//Closet From Which You Would Like to Borrow: RHW always and forever.

//Last Time You Splurged?  Chanel sling-backs in Paris last week!

//Currently Saving Your Pennies For:  A vacation home in Miami for our girls. Miami is our second home. (Well third because my husband and I are born and raised Londoners)

//A Deal for the History Books/Your T&T Personal Best: I found a beautiful Row gown on the Real Real for $300 and then it had an additional 20% off (retail value was over 2k). I have no idea to this day why that person would ever sell such a beauty.

//Advice to someone looking to define their own style: Focus on what makes you feel good and confident instead of what's trending at the moment.

//Trend you wish would go away? Cargo Pants

//You feel great. What are you wearing? A tank top and jeans.

//Occasions when you splurge: Birthdays.

//Occasions when you save: Anniversaries.

 //Home Decor Style: I guess it's similar to my personal style, neutral and minimalist but truthfully have never really been that into home decor.

//Favorite place to hunt for home decor: Would not know where to begin but my client Emily Del Besso is the most talented interior designer, I take lots of inspo from her IG.

//Your fashion motto: "Less is More"

//Your life motto: "What is meant for you will always find a way." This has saved me during some very dark moments in my life.

Fill in the blank:

//A woman should invest in- herself. //You’re never too old to—drink tequila with your girlfriends. //A woman can never have too much- drive. // Bury Me In:  a tank and jeans. //True or False: More is More- False. //Fashion is-a way of self expression. //Style is: individual.

Currently Loving:

//Music: Taylor Swift

//Print: I have not read a book in a while. Need to get into reading again.

//Food:  Pasta always

//Drink: Lychee Martini

//Film: The Jonah Hill movie You People on Netflix was hilarious.

//TV: Sex Life

//Podcast: Melissa Woods

//Instagram Handle:  @clairerose

//Designer: Almada Label
